Course Description

Day 1: Safe System Principles Conference (All Participants) Understand how active transportation infrastructure supports the Safe System by protecting vulnerable road users and reducing conflict points between different modes of travel.

Days 2-4: Active Transportation Design Training Safe active transportation infrastructure saves lives. Research shows that cities with protected bike lanes and pedestrian facilities see dramatic reductions in traffic fatalities for all road users. This intensive course equips municipal engineers, planners, and decision-makers with the practical skills to design, implement, and maintain effective active transportation infrastructure within a Safe System framework.

You'll learn from Canadian and international best practices, examine real-world case studies, and leave with actionable plans for your community. Whether you're starting from scratch or upgrading existing facilities, this course helps you build active transportation networks that people actually want to use.
